Wales Air Ambulance HQ
September 2016

The Wales Air Ambulance has a new headquarters with a purpose-built office bringing the charity and the airbase together. Aluminium fabricator/ installer ATCOST WINDOWS won the contract to supply and fit all the glazing products with the help of Kestrel Aluminium Systems.

The Kestrel Aluminium Systems estimating department ran the quote through the in-house software and based on the specification provided specified the use of Curtain Walling, the 60mm Window System, Thermal Framing and the Thermal Commercial Door.

The Kestrel Curtain Walling system allows screens of up to 20m wide to be built on site and to be easily installed.

Powder coated grey, both the 100mm and 125mm Curtain Walling profiles were used to create the frontage and to glaze the common areas and meeting rooms.

Atcost Windows installed the Kestrel Aluminium Systems’ 60mm Window, Thermal Framing and Thermal Commercial Door systems. As the Air Ambulance headquarters is a public building it was important that the products installed were Document L compliant.

The Kestrel Thermal Commercial Door has been tested to meet PAS 24 security standards and achieves U-Values of 1.8W/m2k.

Opening vents were also specified for the offices and Atcost Windows opted to install the Kestrel Aluminium Systems’ 60mm Window Suite, installed with restrictor hinges to meet the required specification and to achieve U-Values of 1.6W/m2k.
