Peter Stonely joins TrustMark
September 2016

Peter Stonely has joined the Board of TrustMark for a three-year term as a non-executive director.

He currently runs a trading standards training consultancy offering business consultancy, as well as training, on trading standards law. He has more than 40 years’ experience in fair trading legislation and practice, including 22 years as a trading standards officer.

Peter Stonely said: “I firmly believe that a scheme such as TrustMark can drive up consumer confidence and satisfaction in a market place that can often be seen as dominated by ‘rogues’. Having had work done in my home recently I know what it is like when you find that excellent trader who does a great job and leaves you relaxed and confident that the job will be done properly. The standards that TrustMark sets for Scheme Operators are of tremendous value for consumers as well as helping to promote the good traders who are proud to deliver the highest standards for their customers.

“The relationship between TrustMark and trading standards is already very strong but there are many more opportunities for closer collaborative working and partnerships with other like-minded, not-for-profit consumer protection groups. I look forward to contributing towards the development of the scheme.”

Liz Male MBE, chairman of the Board said: “I’m so pleased to welcome Peter’s expertise and knowledge into TrustMark. We now have a complete Board of highly motivated and engaged directors who set policy and support our strategy of strong collaborations to serve the industry and consumers. The consumer services offered by TrustMark and broadening, and together we will achieve the vision of a successful home improvement industry that operates to the full benefit of reputable tradespeople and their customers.”

TrustMark ensures there is an equal balance between trade and non-trade interests on its Board, with three directors elected from within the industry, three directors from consumer protection organisations, and an independent chairman.
