Going electric
October 2018

CMS WINDOW SYSTEMS has added the first 100% electric powered vans to its fleet. The company, which also recently announced it had achieved zero landfill waste last year read story, has installed the infrastructure for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles at both its sites, at Cumbernauld near Glasgow and Kirkcaldy, Fife.

CEO David Ritchie said: “Every year our diesel and petrol powered fleet covers thousands of miles serving customers across the UK, so it is important that we look to switch to electric power for many of the shorter journeys. Replacing some of our existing vans with electric vehicles will help us reduce our reliance on fossil fuels given that Scotland’s electricity supply is increasingly being provided by renewable sources – now at the equivalent of 68.1% of gross electricity consumption according to the Scottish Government.”

The company also won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2017 for its environmental achievements.
