A Golden Apple
November 2017

CMS WINDOW SYSTEMS is celebrating after picking up the Gold award in the International Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice 2017 at a special presentation ceremony held at the Houses of Parliament in London.

CMS uses a ‘closed-loop’ approach, which ensures it recycles post-use windows and doors and replaces them with fully recyclable, products designed to help increase the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce their carbon footprint.

Collecting the award at the Houses of Parliament were two newly appointed directors, Gerald McSkimming, operations director, and Craig Reid, PVC contracts director.

Managing director Andy Kerr said: “Winning this award is a tremendous achievement given the excellent calibre of the other entrants and it encourages us even more to continuously develop our sustainable business practices to do what we do even better.

“In addition to our recycling processes, which divert 95% of our waste away from landfill annually, CMS operates in the most resource-efficient ways, including training its fleet drivers to reduce their fuel consumption, and helping to promote the sustainable building agenda at its Innovation Hub, a dedicated educational and events facility.”

In winning a Green Apple Award, CMS Window Systems will have 100 trees planted in its name as part of the United Nations Billion Trees initiative, and it will be invited to represent the UK in the Green World Awards 2018. The company has also been invited to have its winning paper published in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can learn from its environmental sustainability strategy.
