European environment winner
November 2016

Window, door and curtain walling designer, manufacturer and installer CMS WINDOW SYSTEMS has been named a winner at the European Business Awards for the Environment.

The company, which is based near Glasgow and employs more than 250 people, beat tough competition from companies across Europe to come top in the ‘management’ category for medium and large companies. The overall winner from the four shortlisted companies was announced at the EBAE awards ceremony, held at the historic Seaplane Harbour in Tallinn, Estonia.

CMS now joins a host of eminent previous winners of the category, including Marks & Spencer, which won the award in 2012 for its renowned ‘Plan A’ environmental initiative.

CMS was the only company in the UK window and door industry to be nominated in the awards, organised by the European Commission every two years. CMS also won the ‘Management (SME)’ category in the VIBES (Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland) Awards in 2015.

A fundamental element of CMS’s sustainable business operation is the company’s Innovation Hub, which was created to showcase some of the most advanced and sustainable building envelope products available, as well as its recycling schemes, including its latest glass reprocessing initiative with Saint-Gobain Glass.

Andy Kerr, Managing Director at CMS said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been named a winner at the EBAE Awards. It’s a testament to the hard work of everyone in the team, and the commitment they’ve shown to helping put sustainability at the forefront of everything we do.

“Environmental and sustainability issues are central to CMS’s business strategy. As the business landscape evolves, it’s great to have the opportunity to show the European business community how sustainability is a help, not a hindrance, to success.”

Gillian Bruce, chair of the VIBES Awards, added: “Congratulations to CMS Window Systems on their fantastic success at the EBAE Awards. It was excellent to have VIBES winners represent Scotland on the European stage this year and we are thrilled that CMS has been recognised internationally for its commitment to sustainable development - it is very much deserved.”
