Former co-op refurbished
November 2016
The refurbishment of a Grade II Art Deco building in Newcastle to create a new Premier Inn hotel included PURe aluminium windows from SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL SYSTEMS.
The five-storey former 1890s- built Co-Op department store was redeveloped by main contractor Interserve and architects Archial NORR, with fabricator Essential Aluminium delivering the glazing package.
The acoustic and thermal properties of Senior’s patented PURe aluminium casement windows were key to its specification. PURe windows feature an enhanced thermal barrier manufactured from expanded polyurethane foam (PUR). The frames were used with triple glazed glass.
Recently awarded a UK patent, Senor’s PURe range of aluminium doors and windows has the potential to achieve U-values as low as 0.71W/m2 K when calculated as a commercial CEN standard window and 0.93W/m2 K when calculated as a CEN standard door.
