MILA has appointed Steve Johnston to the newly created role of Head of Global Sourcing for its parent company Arran Isle Ltd. He will head the dedicated team based in the Ningbo region of China, in Mila’s biggest manufacturing area.
Steve spent 15 years earlier in his career working directly for Mila in the Far East, and most recently worked with Travis Perkins.
He was instrumental in the setting up of a joint Quality Improvement Task Force across the Arran Isle group to share the knowledge about how the suppliers operate, with the aim of reducing the costs and incidence of non-compliance.
Steve said of his new role: “Mila already has a very impressive quality performance set up here, built on the fact that it has ten-year partnerships in place with many of its suppliers. Moving forward, I’ll be looking at ways in which we can help those suppliers to perform even better and deliver the incremental improvements in quality which will make a difference to customers.”
Mila has a team of 16 in China and has its own testing facilities enabling it to check everything from material specification to plating finishes before products are shipped to the UK.
