Siegenia-Aubi LM4200 tilt and turn hardware has helped fabricator and installer Visual Concept deliver high performance aluminium windows and doors for a new £20 million student residence in Newcastle.

Designed and built to a ‘very good’ BREEAM rating, the 396-room Winn Studios accommodation close to Northumbria University has just welcomed its first students following its completion during the summer.

Visual Concept was appointed by the main contractor to manufacture and install the contemporary grey aluminium windows and doors to feature within the complex’s eye-catching architectural style. The fabricator supplied and fitted more than 700 units for the development using Universal Aluminium’s UPW55 window system.

Inward opening LM4200 hardware was chosen for its functional quality and long term reliability to help Visual Concept provide a solution for the application’s tough usage demands.  The robust, durable hardware will minimise future maintenance requirements for the buildings manager’s Northumbria University.

Paul Davidson, director at Visual Concept said: “From the early design stage the building proved to be challenging due to its fabric design and differing interfaces.  The LM4200 proved to be the solution for easy cleaning, secured by design ground floor and controlled ventilation.”

Suitable for TBT (tilt before turn) windows with sash weights up to 130kg, the Siegenia-Aubi LM4200 is a pre-assembled, completely clampable hardware system for easy fabrication. Optimally matched plastic sliders ensure long lasting frictionless actuation and numerous design details deliver excellent visual appearance and ease of operation.  The LM4200 is also Secured by Design licensed for applications where enhanced security is specified.
