Cyber safe
May 2019

In the wake of BBC research showing a record 55% of UK firms have already faced a cyber-attack in 2019, MILA has announced that it has achieved Cyber Essentials Plus Certification, giving its customers valuable reassurance about the security of its IT infrastructure.

In line with the government backed Cyber Essentials scheme accredited by CREST, Mila’s entire internet facing infrastructure has now been successfully assessed – from its boundary firewalls and its access control, to its malware and anti-virus protection.

Managing director Richard Gyde said that, in an environment where there is an ever growing threat of cyber crime, businesses can’t afford to be complacent about their security: “There’s a sense that it is only large scale corporations which are targeted, but this latest research shows that small and medium sized companies are just as vulnerable.

“As we’ve already seen in this industry, any kind of cyber attack can have a significant impact on a company’s ability to service its customers properly. The average cost of a cyber attack to UK businesses is £185,000, but the reputational damage can be even higher, so we’re determined to protect ourselves from that risk.”
