New sealing solution for the UK
May 2015

An exclusive partnership has been agreed between two leading manufacturers of sealing solutions to supply a new product to the UK window and door industry.

Birmingham based ExtrudaSeal has teamed up with Spanish company TecSeal to add the innovative Tri-Fin® wool pile to its portfolio. Tri-Fin® features an advanced design, with three pliable barrier fins, and can help dramatically improve weather tightness on PVC-u, aluminium and timber windows and doors. Tests have shown a 25% reduction in air infiltration compared to a single fin.

“We’re always looking for new ways to help our clients further improve performances on their windows and doors,” said Chris Byers, ExtrudaSeal managing director. “This partnership means ExtrudaSeal is the UK’s exclusive supplier of the advanced Tri-Fin® wool pile, which delivers a long list of benefits for the fabricator.”

With an ideal material consistency and maximum structural integrity, the Tri-Fin® creates a tighter seal against air and water infiltration that is also highly durable. The wool pile has been successfully tested under pressures up to 600 Pa in sliding systems, achieving class 4A air permeability according to BS EN 12207:2000.

The deal comes as the Government’s deadline for the implementation of a zero carbon policy on new homes is quickly approaching. “Next year will see the industry facing tighter energy efficiency requirements for the new build market, and we’re preparing to assist our clients with a series of innovative products that will enable them to capitalise on the new opportunities in this sector. Tri-Fin® is the next generation of wool pile and we are delighted to supply this solution to the UK market,” added Chris.

Tri-Fin® features laminated fins, an exclusive technology developed by TecSeal which, apart from providing excellent weather tightness, also helps reduce the noise made by a window or door when operated. The advanced technology means the fins, fibres and backing are part of an integrated assembly that won’t break, bind or stretch during fabrication or while in use. Tri-Fin® also has a solid polypropylene backing which is easier to insert in any kind of profile, saving valuable production time and reducing waste.
