Q-Mark for Schüco

Schüco UK has achieved BM Trada Q-Mark certification for both general and enhanced security performance for a number of its aluminium products, as a pathway to Secured by Design (SBD) certification.

Schüco UK said that with more and more commercial projects being developed to SBD standards, it was important as a significant supplier in this sector to ‘lead the way by example’.

The company chose the Q-Mark because much of its product testing had been carried out by BM Trada’s sister company Chiltern Dynamics, and they had been impressed with the technical expertise across the group. Schüco UK is also encouraging its fabricators to follow suit, with two companies already well on the way to achieving Q-Mark themselves, according to BM Trada senior technical consultant Andy Sumner.

Schüco UK’s Q-Marked products include: aluminium casement windows to BS 4873:2009, Aluminium alloy windows and doorsets; Specification and BS 7950: 1997 Advanced Security for Windows (side hung, top hung and fixed); aluminium tilt & turn windows to BS 4873 and BS 7950 (tilt before turn, turn before tilt and turn only; and aluminium entrance doors to Pas 23 - 1: 1999 General Performance Tests and PAS 24-1: 1999 Enhanced security performance requirements for door assemblies (open-in, open-out, single and double doorsets).

This is just the start of an ongoing programme of certification for Schüco UK, which it intends will cover a high proportion of its total product range.
