Why Exhibit at
FIT Show 2019?

JustinJustin Ratcliffe, (CAB Chief Executive)

CAB ceo Justin Ratcliffe looks at why CAB are hosting the CAB Pavilion at FIT Show 2019 by reflecting back in time…

‘But we’re simply not a Euro Hub destination for exhibitions, like the ones at BAU or Fensterbau or Glasstec..’. This is such a common response to questions about why UK construction shows attract only a fraction of the audiences of their Euro counterparts. But we simply can’t ignore the importance of such shows in the UK and in our sector, there is no doubt that the FIT Show is THE show for the Fabricator and Installer. Things though have changed somewhat over the years!

Future Homes? …Put existing ones first, GGF
tells Chancellor

The GGF has reacted to Chancellor Philip Hammonds Future Homes Standard plan by calling for more priority on existing houses as well as those still to be built.

The Chancellor in his Spring Statement announced the new standard would be introduced by 2025 so that new build homes are future-proofed with low carbon heating and world-leading levels of energy efficiency.

GGF group chief executive Kevin Buckley welcomed the initiative but added: “A more relevant and immediate need is for meaningful Government backed energy efficiency incentives for homeowners currently living in existing housing stock.”

Three expert groups combine for post-Grenfell advice

Three not-for-profit organisations, the Door & Hardware Federation, Secured by Design and the Fire Industry Association have combined their knowledge to produce a joint publication with advice on selecting flat entrance doorsets.

The publication, ‘A Guide for Selecting Flat Entrance Doorsets; A publication for housing associations, landlords, building owners and local authorities in England’ brings together the best collaborative advice available from the industry in one straightforward document to highlight the fundamental issues of fire safety and security for those selecting fire doorsets.

Importantly, say the organisations, the publication makes the point that there is no conflict between fire and security with Building Regulations ADB (fire) and ADQ (security) carrying equal weight with neither taking precedence over the other. It explains why only factory produced doorsets can meet both ADB and ADQ.

All set for FIT

FIT Show organisers say they are looking to the biggest show yet with an unprecedented amount of support from exhibitors who have already booked more space than the entire 2017 event as well as pre-registration at record levels.

FIT Show event director Nickie West said: “The fact that we’ve already surpassed the space sold for 2017 reinforces that our exhibitors understand the importance of trading through turbulent times, investing in opportunities to get in front of new and existing customers via live events such as FIT Show.

“We believe that broadening our proposition to appeal to wider audiences, introducing new products and materials, as well as moving the show to the NEC to make it more accessible to companies from wider Europe and beyond, have all played a pivotal role in securing our success for 2019.

Council for Aluminium in Building
The Council for Aluminium in Building (CAB) was formed in 1994 by the
bringing together of three existing trade associations, the Architectural
Aluminium Association, the Patent Glazing Contractors Association and
the Aluminium Window Association, all of whom had been established for
well over 25 years. Our mission is to support the interests of the
architectural aluminium industry by encouraging the increasing use of
aluminium products in architecture and the construction industry as a
whole, to encourage quality and best practice, to set new technical
standards and protect members' business and contractual interest. In
addition we are driving forward the development of a national training
structure for the sector and have received major grants from the DTI to
assist in this activity.
