Govt pledges new flood door code
February 2019

The government is to issue a new code of practice for flood door and associated products products following media reports of failures among installed flood doors in the wake of the 2015 Cumbria floods.

Residents hit by the aftermath of Storm Desmond received grants totalling £15million to protect their homes against further flooding but a BBC report says more than 60 homes have experienced issues with the installations, including locking problems.

Some installers have returned to carry out repairs at their own expense but one installer had since become insolvent.
A spokesperson for the government told the BBC that they had been made aware of a number of issues and added that a code of practice was now being developed to "improve the standard for flood resistance products".
