Five miles – in 180 years!

Era this week topped off 180 years of history with a move to a new 135,000sq ft HQ, factory and warehouse in Wolverhampton where CEO Darren Waters gave visitors a hint of the next innovation the company is bringing to market.

The unit was officially opened by David Huse OBE, Chairman of Neighbourhood Watch, who said: “I was thrilled to be invited to open the fantastic new facility. I’m delighted we’re working with Era – we both have protecting people at the very heart of what we do and we’re proud to recommend Era’s products to our members.”

He also reminded guests that the organisation, which oversees a network of 50,000 volunteers across the country, has accepted Era as one of only two commercial partners.

The site brings together three former facilities five miles away in Willenhall, and includes the company’s extensive research and development, training and demonstration facilities, as well as other office functions, manufacturing and warehousing.

Darren Waters said: “Our brand-new home is a great fit with our long-term business strategy and will help to differentiate our brand, both as an innovative supplier and as a responsible employer.”

He went on to outline plans for its TouchKey system, due for launch in the next few weeks. The smartphone operated system is based on the same platform as the company’s existing BS nightlatch but unlike most other systems, he explained that its Bluetooth proximity control is completely passive: “The phone stays in your pocket; all you have to do is touch the lock.”
