SF52 aluminium curtain walling from SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL SYSTEMS has been used to create the glazed façade of a landmark new data centre in London Docklands.

Designed by ARC-MC architects, the scheme’s building envelope features a combination of different materials, with the aluminium frame of Senior’s SF52 curtain walling complementing the granite cladding. Installed by Visual Concept Ltd for main contractor Metnor Construction, Senior’s aluminium SD commercial doors have also been installed to the building’s main entrance.

The location of the data centre presented numerous challenges, with access to one of the elevations restricted by the River Thames and the others by the neighbouring buildings. To ensure that the build programme remained on schedule, each phase of work and the delivery of materials had to be carefully coordinated. Paul Price from Visual Concept Ltd said: “We were keen to work with Senior on this contract and the level of service they provided was fantastic, with all the orders expertly inputted, painted and supplied on time throughout the whole phasing procedure. The additional technical and practical support that was made available, particularly from our regional technical sales manager Mark Durose who was our main point of contact throughout the build, was also very impressive.  All in all, a great team effort and a project to be proud of!”
