Security benefits

Adams Rite has supplied door opening solutions and hardware to a £1.5million City West Housing Trust regeneration project.

As part of an ongoing project to install over 900 doors across low-rise social housing blocks in Salford, Adams Rite has worked alongside commercial aluminium company Total Glass, to provide the security and accessibility that is key in communal living applications.

Architectural hardware for the project consisted of Assa Abloy cam motion door closers and Adams Rite 1391 Electric Solenoid Bolts.

Cam motion closers maintain closing power but require less force at the beginning of the opening cycle, the most strenuous part of opening a door. The adjustable force feature makes this range particularly suitable for use by elderly or disabled people and assists social housing landlords in fulfilling their duties under the Equality Act 2010, specifically to meet with BS8300 and building regulation Approved Document M guidelines.

The 1391 electric solenoid bolts installed at the City West Housing Trust project are ideal for use on social housing blocks where both tenant security and visitor accessibility are important and a robust reliable solution is paramount. These locks are easily integrated as part of an access control system or through remote control equipment like a push button, keypad or timer.

The 1391 electric solenoid bolt can facilitate the remote access and exit control of aluminium, timber and steel doors. The 16mm throw of the stainless steel bolt has held under 13,000N of side load allowing it to be tested as part of PAS24 security doorsets. It can be concealed in the door or frame for a streamline finish, and provides a positive fail-safe operation at all times. For ease of installation and flexibility the lock can be fitted vertically or horizontally.
