Making it easy to CE mark
The company is working towards ift-Q-Cert certification on all its hardware products which will mean any UK window or door fabricator wishing to CE mark his products does not need to invest in compliance testing when using Siegenia-Aubi hardware. Crucially, this enables aluminium, PVC-U and timber fabricators to make significant time and cost savings on their route to securing the increasingly important CE mark, which it is believed will eventually become compulsory for windows and doors in the UK. The first ift-Q-Cert certification to be awarded to Siegenia-Aubi is QM 328. This brings together three existing European standards for tilt and turn hardware, EN 13126-8, EN 1191 and EN 14609, which relate to long term function, resistance to repeated opening and closing and load bearing capacity for safety devices respectively. Equivalent certification has also been secured by Siegenia-Aubi for its KFV multi-point door locking systems which now carry the ift-Q-cert QM 342. This allows door fabricators to achieve a CE mark and the important EN 14351-1 standard. Chris Wood, Siegenia-Aubi technical manager, said: “CE marking is only going to become more important so we’ve taken a proactive step to help fabricators. These first ift-Q-Certs are just the start and we’re well on the way to offering similar CE mark compliance for our other window and door hardware. “We understand how difficult it can be to keep pace with standards so we’re doing everything we can to make it easy to achieve CE marking for windows and doors. We can even help in situations where you simply wish to switch from your existing hardware products. 0247 662 2000
