Open door to award

Total Glass has received another accolade for its aluminium security communal entrance door by winning the Product/Innovation of the Year category in the 7th annual Builder & Engineer Awards 2010.

The Liverpool-based PVCU and aluminium window and door fabricator was also a finalist in the event’s Supplier of the Year category. Total Glass managing director Paul Ierston and director Julian Wetherall received the trophy from Paula English of Excel Publishing at an awards ceremony in Manchester on October 7th.

This success follows the door’s shortlisting in May as Product of the Year and Total Glass’s finalist position for Supplier of the Year in the Housing Excellence Awards 2010.

Total Glass, an established fenestration supplier to the social housing and trade sectors, introduced the heavy-gauge aluminium doors in response to a market need for a more aesthetically-pleasing and robust security door for multiple occupancy residential properties.

“Winning this award on top of a finalist placing is just further proof of the product’s uniqueness and how it fits the market need perfectly,” Paul said. “We’re delighted to receive this award, which reinforces our firm belief in an innovative product that the market was waiting for.”

Social housing professionals are very impressed with the product. Liverpool Mutual Homes is installing 1,500 doors with customised glazing as part of a £multi-million property refurbishment scheme in the city.

Total Glass is currently carrying out a number of pilot communal door installations for housing associations and social housing providers throughout the North West. It has also received numerous enquiries from interested organisations throughout the UK.
