Crest of a wave

The recently opened Belle Tout Lighthouse hotel at Beachy Head has been fitted with Trimvent Select trickle vents and grilles and Titon Autolatch window restrictors.

Defender and Sterling hinges by Securistyle and tri-coated RAIL espagnolettes by Maco have also been supplied by Titon. As part of the conversion the hotel was fitted with Accoya timber framed windows which were chosen for their strength, durability and a minimum life span of 60 years.

David Pattenden, Managing Director of East Sussex-based, Westgate Joinery, specified the window restrictors, vents and hinges, and said: “Part of the owner’s criteria was to have secure and reliable window systems that wouldn’t be affected by the acetylation of the Accoya timber – which made Titon’s products the perfect choice.”

Trimvent Select Xtra XR16 is a fully recessed slot ventilator that fits over a 16mm window slot providing an Equivalent Area (EA) of 4600mm2 when fitted with the XHD16 grille or XC16 canopy. Available in a variety of colours, the XR16 is ideal for new build or refurbished properties that use timber framed windows.

The Xtra design of the Trimvent Select range provides increased ventilation and by utilising existing slot sizes and vent lengths, they give optimum airflow of up to 60% more than previous models. All vents are specifically developed for Part F of the Building Regulations, Ventilation (England & Wales), be it 2006 or 2010 requirements.

Autolatch is an automatically engaging spring loaded window restrictor for use on side and top hung windows. Supplied in ferritic steel and various pin heights, it is suitable for all cavity sizes and is also easy to install making them ideal for retrofitting.

Securistyle Defender friction hinges are suitable for side or top hung windows. All versions of the Defender friction hinge are available in both ferritic and austenitic stainless steel in a variety of sizes and stack heights, giving the specifier and window manufacturer plenty of options.
