£1m+ contract won

 

EYG Commercial has won a series of contracts totalling nearly £1.2m to provide windows, doors and curtain walling to a range of national construction projects.

The developments include two student accommodation blocks in Nottingham and Scunthorpe, and a health centre and residential housing project, both in Hull.

EYG Commercial, part of the EYG Group, has a strong track record in student accommodation and has previously completed projects with Manchester-based Ocon Construction in Sheffield, Leeds and Loughborough.

Its latest contract with the developer, worth £450,000, is to provide aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling for third and final phase of the development at Chettles Yard in Nottingham.

The company has already completed work on the first two phases of the project as part of a wider contract worth £1.4m, and the final phase of the development due to be finished by spring next year.

Joint managing director, Nick Ward, said a major factor in winning this latest batch of contracts was the quality of service the company had previously delivered while working with Ocon. He said: “We are really pleased to have secured this work. Our team worked very hard on the first two phases of this project, which worked out extremely well, and there is no doubt we will do just as good a job for the final part of the project.”

EYG Commercial has also secured a contract worth £340,000 to fit out Melior College in Scunthorpe on behalf of Norwich-based building company May Gurney, a project forecast to be finished by December.

Other contracts include a £165,000 scheme to supply windows, doors, curtain walling and ventilation louvres to Wilberforce Health Centre on Story Street, Hull. This is the fourth health centre EYG has fitted out in partnership with developer and renowned Hull construction company, the Sewell Group, under the NHS Life Schemes project. The other three centres are at Kingswood, Orchard Park and Bilton.

The contract is due to be completed by autumn 2011.
