African adventure

Business Micros has made its first venture into Africa with the supply of its original WinStar Aluminium programme to a customer in Malawi.

Via its website, Business Micros was approached by a company manufacturing aluminium frames in the South East African country which was looking to automate its production.

The sales support team at Business Micros talked to the fabricator about their requirements and, when it emerged that the LogiKal software supplied by Business Micros (Aluminium) was too advanced for what they were manufacturing, they decided to offer the original WinStar aluminium package free of charge instead.

Graeme Bailey, managing director of Business Micros, said: “WinStar Aluminium is no longer available in the UK as the market has shifted to the LogiKal software which offers so many more features and benefits.

“However, when we spoke to the Malawian customer, we realised that it was ideal for their requirements and we were delighted to be able to supply WinStar Aluminium on disk for them to use in their production.

“Obviously, we know next to nothing about the market in Malawi, but it’s nice to feel that we’ve at least made some positive impact on an enterprise which is providing jobs and opportunities.”

As well as this foray into Africa, Business Micros also has customers in the USA and Australia and is currently responding to enquiries from both South America and the Pacific Rim.
