All the best-dressed car parks
Large, multi-storey concrete car parks can easily be changed using lightweight materials such as sheet stainless steel and aluminium extrusions. One such ‘well dressed’ parking facility has recently gained planning permission at Coventry University.
The architectural screening contract was won by LouvreSol Specialist Projects, the design architects are RMJM and the project is being built by McLaren Construction.
The computer enhanced image supplied by RMJM shows how the completed car park will look from Gosforth Street. The sleek vertical design of the stainless steel panels gives the illusion that the structure has a smaller footprint and emphasises height. In the evening the internal lighting will give the structure the appearance of modern office building that fits in with its surroundings.
The application of shading and screening systems continues to increase and specifiers are becoming aware that such systems can offer an existing building a much needed face lift while making the interior more efficient to run.
