Healthy project

Beaufort’s Advanced Plus aluminium system and approved fabricator, Midland Window Group (MWG), recently carried out work on Avonside Health Centre in Warwick, which features a striking Anthracite Grey aluminium frame facade, incorporating automatic entrance doors and over 80 windows fitted with grey solar control glass.

The building’s unusual design also demanded complex angled frames manufactured from Beaufort’s curtain walling system to accommodate a glazed lean-to roof.

Part of the Blyweert Aluminium Group, Beaufort’s fully integrated range of high performance aluminium products easily met the project’s exacting criteria for durability, sustainability and colour options as well as the 1.8w/m2K U-value set for the new building.

Beaufort’s Advanced Plus window suite was the first aluminium system in the UK market to achieve an A WER (Window Energy Rating) with a double-glazed sealed unit. The window features a state-of-the-art polyamide thermal break and boasts a
U-value as low as1.3w/m2K.

Beaufort and MWG worked closely with the project’s main contractor, TS Contracts of Cannock, to complete the new Health Centre, which provides local residents with state-of-the-art primary care facilities from GP consulting rooms to specialist nursing and midwifery services. Using Beaufort’s Advanced Plus 70mm window suite, MWG fabricated and installed tilt and turn and outward opening windows including windows with smoke-release gearing, which enables a wider opening in the event of a fire to increase air flow into the room and to let smoke out.

Avonside Health Centre’s internally glazed Advanced Plus windows are complemented by aluminium doors from Beaufort’s rebated and weather-rated commercial range. The automated main entrance doors incorporate a low threshold for easy wheelchair access and egress, while the staff entrance has a set of double doors operated by an electronic access control system.
