New efficient glass

AGC has launched Planibel A, a new energy efficient glass for the UK market with a high performance, low-emissivity hard coating specially developed to perform to the highest ratings within the WER scale from C to A, without the need for edge deletion.

AGC has claimed that Planibel A achieves an A rating with a hard coat glass within most leading window profiles, and achieve a C rating cost effectively using the minimum of processing requirements.

According to the company, Planibel A is easy to process (with no edge deletion), has improved resistance to scratches during storage and handling, and has a much longer shelf life than soft coat glass.

Sales manager for the UK and Ireland, Mark Rodgers, said: “We know many of our UK customers prefer hard coated glass because it is much easier to process and handle than soft coat and can be tempered just like clear float. Now with Planibel A they can work with a hard coat from a leading manufacturer and still achieve higher ratings within the WER scheme very cost effectively.

“In short, we can now offer all the processing advantages while still delivering the required results. In developing Planibel A we’ve taken hard coatings to the forefront of glass technology and demonstrated a continuing commitment to our UK customers – helping them to stay on top of new regulatory demands in an increasingly competitive environment.”
